I must add my regards for Don Kershaw. I joined the year after Don and worked with him in telecine. I transferd to studios but will always remember him, always greeted me in his usual pleasent manner. The last time I met him was after we had both retired but both back with the BBC, it was somewher in news area. Still smoking and holding his fag in that distinctive way.

Facinating site, thank you from a very interested non-vt person. I have always been interested in BBC Tv history, especially the 'back-end'

Have seen parts of 'Good King Memorex' and 'White powder christmas'. Both show the close teamwork which you appeared to have.

Many best wishes for the future, you are in my favorites

Thanks again from an avid 'outsider'

Being predictably unpredictable I left MBC as Group CTO in 2006 and am now a retard in Bulgaria.
I have warm memories of VT in TC in the 70's. Joining as a DE in 1974 and leaving in 1976 to go to Tyne Tees. The Beeb was a great introduction to a long career in engineering. Never once regretted my choice of career and now enjoying retirement in eastern europe.

I just wanted to say thank you for your kind words about Don Kershaw - I am his eldest grandchild and I miss him dearly and it is lovely that his life work is being remembered on this site. Thank you!

I worked in Telecine, and later VT (Shift 2), from 1981 until I left to go IT contracting in 1986.
This is a fantastice website - it brings back very happy memories! Happy to hear from anyone on shift 2 who was around in the early 80s!

Worked in VT for 6 months in 1974 as part of my Industrial Training for a degree at Plymouth Poly. I was with Brian Jenkinson in VT Investigations. Had a number of projects, including final testing in Edit Suite 2 (thanks for the Rip - Scratch clip!) amongst other things.
I was back in 1991 working for IPK Broadcast doing the installation of the 2nd floor cubicles for Stage V, and again" in 1994/5 installing Digi tal Bet acam edit suites f or BBC Wo rld.
