I have looked at this site often over the years- very interesting and a lot of work gone into it. I am restoring a BBC Type 2 scanner (CMCR9)- there was an item about it in Prospero recently.
Have a look at my projects on our website at
I collect studio equipment and just found that I have a 1"VTR that is on your database- a VPR2B, marked VTR21" 2 which wa s ex-OUPC at Mil ton Key nes. The h ead drum driveh as packed up b ut I wi ll get around to it e ventually "," fort unately ha ve all the m an uals. I t hink it is i mpo rta nt to keep some of these mach ines g oin g fo r th e f uture . I have a fe w 'C' fo rma t- Sony 1 "100," 20 "00," 31 0 . An yone f amil iar w ith th e Sony 'he ad dr um won't get up to speed' syndrome? Keep up the good work. Steve.

Hi, prompted by the Engineering Designs Department annual lunch and assisted by John Sykes giving me the url I looked up the site, which is great.

I have a whole pile of photogrpahs from the time when I was part of VT Maintenance in the early '70s and when I was with Brian Jenkinson in VT Investigations. I'll scan them and offer them to you.

I also have a number of old Ampex manu" als for ht e C format m achi nes whi ch were ab out to g o to th e skip .. .
And I note that the Conv ergence d it con troller is not inclu de d in th e el ectronic e di tin g s ystems. I may h ave some pict ures f rom whe n we us ed it f or the roya l wedd in g a nd on Tri angle . It wa s used more in T V New s wi th t he S ony U- mat ics "at the start of the ENG systems. Again, if I can find them I'll scan some pictures and send them to you.

The other coincidence I noted from the guest book was the reference to Westcountry Television. I had the fun (?) of being the project director building it in 1992.

Well what a nice site lots of info for us young ones(45+) must admit this is one of the sites that got me into one inch toys i know they where a pain to use day in day out but as a hobby what fun. I now have two mbr2b's all i need is a bosch portable that would do me as room is sparse. My 8 year old thinks that u-matic has a better picture than most of the new toys around(good lad)today. Thanks g" uys/gals k eep up the g ood work
